Researchers Journal of Science and Technology

The Researchers Journal of Science and Technology, published by the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Akwa Ibom State University, is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, editorial independence, and professional publishing practice. Advertising may be accepted by the journal as a means of supporting its publication activities; however, advertisements must never compromise the scholarly purpose, credibility, or editorial independence of the journal.

  1. Scope of Advertising

The journal may accept advertisements that are relevant to its readership and consistent with its academic and professional character. These may include advertisements for:

  1. scientific and technological products and services;
  2. academic conferences, workshops, seminars, and training programmes;
  • scientific equipment, laboratory materials, and research-related services;
  1. academic books, journals, and other scholarly publications;
  2. educational programmes and professional development opportunities; and
  3. other products or services considered appropriate by the Editorial Board.
  4. Editorial Independence

Advertising decisions shall be kept separate from editorial decisions. The acceptance, placement, or removal of an advertisement shall not influence:

  1. the selection of manuscripts for publication;
  2. peer-review decisions;
  • editorial recommendations;
  1. the publication schedule; or
  2. the academic content of the journal.

Advertisers shall have no authority to influence the content, interpretation, review, or publication of any research article or other editorial material.

  1. Approval of Advertisements

All advertisements shall be reviewed and approved by the Editorial Board or an officially designated representative before publication. The journal reserves the right to accept, reject, modify, or withdraw any advertisement that does not meet its academic, ethical, legal, or professional standards.

Acceptance of an advertisement does not constitute an endorsement of the advertised product, service, institution, or claim by the Researchers Journal of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Physical Sciences, or Akwa Ibom State University.

  1. Accuracy and Ethical Standards

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that all advertising materials are accurate, lawful, and capable of being substantiated. Advertisements must not contain:

  1. false, misleading, or exaggerated claims;
  2. defamatory or discriminatory content;
  • material that infringes copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights;
  1. deceptive academic or scientific claims;
  2. content that promotes unethical research practices; or
  3. any material that conflicts with applicable laws and accepted academic standards.

The journal may request evidence or clarification where an advertisement contains scientific, technical, medical, environmental, or other specialised claims.

  1. Separation from Editorial Content

Advertisements shall be clearly distinguishable from research articles, editorials, reviews, news, and other scholarly content. Advertising material shall not be presented in a manner that could reasonably lead readers to mistake it for peer-reviewed or editorially approved content.

Where necessary, advertisements may be labelled as Advertisement, Sponsored Content, or by another appropriate designation to maintain transparency.

  1. Placement of Advertisements

The placement of advertisements shall be determined by the journal based on available space, design considerations, and the overall suitability of the material. Advertisers may express a preference for a particular location, but the final decision shall rest with the journal.

No advertiser shall be guaranteed a particular editorial position, publication outcome, or favourable treatment in the journal.

  1. Conflict of Interest

The journal shall take reasonable steps to identify and manage any potential conflict of interest arising from advertising relationships. Advertising revenue shall not be allowed to influence editorial judgement or the academic direction of the journal.

Members of the Editorial Board and other individuals involved in advertising decisions shall disclose any relevant conflict of interest where appropriate.

  1. Prohibited Advertising

The journal will not knowingly accept advertisements that:

  1. promote illegal activities or unlawful products;
  2. contain fraudulent, deceptive, or deliberately misleading information;
  • promote discrimination, hate, violence, or exploitation;
  1. undermine academic integrity or responsible research;
  2. promote predatory publishing or deceptive academic services;
  3. make unsubstantiated claims of scientific superiority; or
  • are otherwise considered inconsistent with the values and mission of the journal.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to refuse any advertisement without being required to provide detailed justification.

  1. Withdrawal of Advertisements

The journal may remove or discontinue an advertisement if it subsequently becomes aware that the advertisement:

  1. contains inaccurate or misleading information;
  2. violates this policy;
  • breaches applicable laws or ethical standards;
  1. creates a significant conflict of interest; or
  2. is likely to damage the reputation or academic integrity of the journal.

Where necessary, an advertisement may be withdrawn without prior notice.

  1. Advertising and Journal Revenue

Advertising revenue, where applicable, shall be treated as a source of financial support for the journal's publishing activities. Such revenue shall not determine the acceptance or rejection of scholarly manuscripts, nor shall it influence the academic judgement of editors or reviewers.

  1. Policy Review

This Advertising Policy shall be reviewed periodically by the Editorial Board to ensure that it remains consistent with evolving publishing practices, ethical standards, applicable regulations, and the mission of the Researchers Journal of Science and Technology.

The journal welcomes responsible advertising that supports the dissemination of scientific knowledge while preserving the independence, credibility, and scholarly integrity of its publication.
